Itinerary

Your 3-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour starts with an early collection from your accommodation in Fes or an agreed accessible meeting point. Travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing Ifrane and the cedar forest near Azrou. A short forest stop offers a chance to see Barbary macaques in their natural habitat; wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Continue through the mountain landscapes around Midelt, with a break for lunch along the route. The road then follows the Ziz Valley, where palm groves and traditional settlements introduce the landscapes of southern Morocco. Photo and comfort stops are arranged around the day’s driving schedule.

Travel onwards towards Erfoud and Merzouga, beside the Erg Chebbi dunes. Meet the desert team for your camel trek and continue to the camp for your first overnight. Sunset timing depends on the season and arrival time. Your accommodation, meals and any alternative transport into the camp follow the option confirmed with your booking. This is a long travel day, so an early departure helps allow time for breaks.

After sunrise over the Merzouga dunes and breakfast, leave the Sahara and travel towards Tinghir, passing desert towns and changing mountain scenery along the way.

At Todra Gorge, enjoy the towering canyon walls and the river running between them. Lunch can be in Tinghir or Todra Gorge. There is time for a short, relaxed break: your driver can drop you beside the river for a brief walk, a few photos or simply to sit and enjoy the view. If you prefer, buy sandwiches or fruit and enjoy them near the water. This is a short sightseeing stop before continuing the drive.

Continue through the Dades region and the kasbah landscapes towards Ouarzazate for your overnight accommodation.

Seasonal note: During seasons with longer daylight, an early arrival in Ouarzazate may allow a visit to Kasbah Taourirt or a film studio, depending on the day’s timing and opening hours.

After breakfast in Ouarzazate, continue your journey towards Marrakech. If your confirmed programme includes a visit to Taourirt Kasbah or a film studio, the visit is arranged according to opening times and the day’s schedule. Entrance fees and local guiding should be checked against your booking inclusions.

Travel to Aït Ben Haddou, the historic fortified village known for its earthen architecture. Allow time to explore or enjoy the views, with your walking pace and meeting point agreed with your driver. Some paths and steps are uneven, so please discuss mobility needs before booking.

Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, with suitable photo and comfort stops when conditions allow. Descend towards Marrakech, where your private desert tour ends with drop-off at your hotel, riad’s nearest accessible meeting point or another agreed address. Arrival time depends on the stops and road conditions; tell us about any onward flight or fixed appointment before confirming the tour.
