Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech to Ouarzazate via Aït Ben Haddou
Your 4-day Marrakech to Fez desert tour begins with an early pick-up from your accommodation or an agreed meeting point. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka, with scenic photo stops along the way.
Visit Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its earthen architecture. Explore the village and stop for lunch before continuing to Ouarzazate.
Depending on your interests and opening hours, you can visit Taourirt Kasbah, the cinema museum or a film studio. Entrance fees and guided visits are confirmed in your quote. Spend your first night in Ouarzazate.
Day 2: Ouarzazate to Merzouga via Dades and Todra Gorge
After breakfast, travel through the Skoura palm groves and Kelaat Mgouna towards the Dades region, with photo and comfort stops along the way.
Continue through Tinghir to Todra Gorge for a short riverside walk beneath the canyon walls. Stop for lunch in Tinghir or near the gorge before driving towards the Sahara.
Arrive in Merzouga, beside the Erg Chebbi dunes, for dinner and an overnight in a traditional hotel or auberge. Your camel ride and camp stay take place the following day.
Day 3: Merzouga, Khamlia and a camel ride to the Sahara camp
Wake early for optional sunrise views, then enjoy breakfast. Spend the day exploring the Merzouga region, with time for Gnawa music in Khamlia and a visit to Rissani. Market visits depend on the day; ask about trying medfouna, the region’s stuffed bread.
Optional activities include 4×4 excursions, quad bikes and buggies. Availability and additional charges are confirmed before booking.
In the late afternoon, take a camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes to your Sahara camp for dinner and an overnight. You can request a 4×4 instead of camels, or combine a camel ride one way with a 4×4 the other way. Tell us your preference in advance.
Day 4: Merzouga to Fez via Ziz Valley, Azrou and Ifrane
Rise early for optional Sahara sunrise views. After breakfast and time to freshen up, leave the dunes by camel or a pre-arranged 4×4 transfer and begin the journey to Fez.
Travel through the Ziz Valley, with its palm groves and sweeping views, then continue towards Midelt for a lunch break. Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in the cedar forest near Azrou for a chance to see Barbary macaques.
Continue through Ifrane to Fez. Your tour ends with drop-off at your accommodation or the nearest accessible meeting point. Arrival depends on road conditions and the stops agreed with your driver.
